Can You Change PS5 Background and Wallpaper?
Unfortunately, you can’t change the background or wallpaper on the PS5 home screen. SONY has not added the custom background and theme-changing option yet. It means players cannot apply any form of custom wallpaper or previously acquired or earned backgrounds on the PlayStation 5.
However, you may modify the background by using the games you already own. Are you guessing how? Well, SONY has included a dynamic background feature that transforms the home screen background on its own when you navigate from game to game.
For example, let’s say you have FIFA 23 or God of War Ragnarök on your PS5. You will see Mbappe’s wallpaper while you highlight FIFA 23. And when you are on over the God of War Ragnarök game, the background will automatically change and you will see Kratos & his son Atreus’s picture on your PS5 home screen.
As you can see, it all depends on which game you highlighted with the cursor. The interesting fact about this PS5’s dynamic wallpaper is that you can’t turn it off. Moreover, the PS5 will also play a soundtrack based on the game. Unlike the dynamic wallpaper, the music can be turned off if you don’t like it.
To turn off the home screen music, Follow the steps.
- Click on the gear icon.
- Select Sound.
- Press Audio Output.
- Move to the General section.
- Switch the toggle icon to the off position of Home Screen Music.

How to Change Background on PS5 Profile
Modifying the background image of the profile is a pleasant thing to do. You can add any gaming moment to your PS5 profile. Let’s see how to do that.
Note: You can add the screenshot images as the profile background you took before. If you don’t have any screenshots on your PS5, you can take them anytime using your controller. Even when you’re focused on gaming.
Press and hold the Create button of your Dualsense controller. A small black symbol on the top right corner of the screen will let you know the screenshot taken is successful.
Here are the steps to modify the cover image of the PS5 profile:
- Go to the Profile icon and click on it.
- Select Profile.
- Click on Edit Profile.
- Press on Cover Image.
- Hit Change Image.
- Choose an image and click Select.
- Adjust the image and press Save.
- Click Done.
