However, Microsoft once removed the full screen from the meeting and introduced the Focus mode. It was almost 80% similar to the full-screen method. But people don’t seem to like that as it didn’t fulfill the users’ needs.
But you know what? Teams have brought back the full-screen mode on the newer update. So from there, you can use the feature.

How to Enable Full Screen on Microsoft Teams
Before hopping on the main procedure, let me share some important information. In 2020, Microsoft decided to remove the full-screen feature in meetings; no one knows why! Instead of the feature, they introduced the Focus mode.
But users didn’t welcome that feature as it didn’t meet their expectations. However, there were tweaks in the app settings menu where users can enable the previous version feature, such as the full-screen mode. It was one of the full-screen enabling methods that users could use.
Recently the update (Teams version 1.5.00.17656) that I’m using right now brings back the full-screen feature, along with the Focus on content feature. You can now use the full-screen mode right from the meeting window.
By implementing both of the features, you can focus on the content that the presenter shows without any distraction. When you enable the Focus on content, it will minimize all the members’ faces from the bottom and expand the slide or content for better visibility.
If you want further focus and an absolutely distraction-free watching experience, enable the full-screen mode. It will maximize the screen even more.
Here is how you can enable full-screen on Teams meetings:
- Join any Teams meeting.
- Click on the three-dots More menu.
- Select Full screen.
Another method to maximize Microsoft Teams shared screen is by enabling the Focus Mode on Teams. Once you enable the mode, Teams automatically hides other participants’ sharings and even their faces. You can have better concentration on the speaker’s sharings in this manner.
You can enable the Focus on content from the same contextual menu. But you can only use the feature when someone shares any content such as slides, documents, or videos.

- Join the session you want to attend first.
- Click on the three-dots More menu.
- Select Focus on content.

Can You Hide Gallery in Teams Meetings
When you join or host a meeting, you must have noticed that all the participants are displayed in a gallery view. By default, the meeting mode is set to gallery mode, and you can’t hide it.
Even though you switch to full-screen mode, the gallery sidebar still exists there. The only thing that you can do is move the gallery sidebar to the side or top of the screen.
Many users believe that the present meeting perspective, which focuses on the Gallery, is quite counter-intuitive. They want to focus on material without being distracted by their own name and video in the Gallery.
While you may remove other guests from the Gallery, you cannot delete your own video, wasting a lot of display area. Gallery becomes obsolete if you utilize the list of participants on the right side of the screen.
You will see the Gallery option signed as marked. When you click on it, nothing happens. 
In upcoming updates, Microsoft may allow users to disable the gallery feature.
