Music is subjective. What I call music, others might call noise.
Spotify’s developers know it, so they’ve included the ability for EQ customization into the app for iOS, Android, and Windows versions. You can set your own equalizer presets and modify a song however you like.
In this article, I’ll explain how to use and modify the equalizer option on Spotify for PC. Tag Along!
How to Change the Equalizer on Spotify PC
The Spotify app is available on Windows PC, and with that comes the EQ presets. To Download and Set Up a Spotify Equalizer on your computer, download & install Spotify on your computer and open the app. Go to Settings and enable Equalizer from the Playback section.
Also, your Spotify sound quality will be the same as your default sound quality. So if you change the sound settings from Windows settings, then Spotify will run on those settings by default. All you have to do is tweak some settings from your Windows settings.
Here are the methods to use the equalizer on Spotify PC:
1. Use Equalizer on Spotify Windows App
The Windows version of the Spotify application has the equalizer feature that you can use without any cost.

In case you are having trouble signing in, fix the Spotify won’t log in issue by resetting the password and clearing the cache files.
Quick Note: If you find yourself lost while finding the best sound quality, you can quickly reset the setting by clicking the Reset button.
2. Enable Equalizer from Windows Settings

3. Via Third-Party Sound Manager
You will not be able to customize your sound quality on all PCs. But you can always use a Third Party equalizer. As my laptop doesn’t have a built-in equalizer, I have to use the third-party app that came with it.
Here’s the procedure to use an equalizer from a third-party app:
- Search for the Control Panel and open it.
- Click on Hardware and Sound.
- Double-click on your third-party sound application.
- Go to Sound effects.
- Customize your music preferences.
You can also download third-party equalizer applications. Research a little bit and download the best application suited for you.

How to Make Spotify Sound Better on My Computer
If you think your Spotify is producing below sound quality, you might have to tweak some settings.
Spotify, by default, sets your music quality. Depending on your internet connection, it will choose what streaming quality will give you a bufferless experience. To save data and seamless music streaming, Spotify will stream in terms of your internet speed & stability.
However, Spotify may choose to stream in low quality even though you have a decent internet connection. When that happens, manually change the streaming property to High or Very high.
Here are the steps to make Spotify Sound better on a Computer:
- Tap on your profile.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down to Audio quality.
- Set Streaming quality to Very high.
- Turn off Auto adjust quality.
Now, your Spotify will always produce very high-quality Music. But you may face buffers while streaming in case your internet connection is slow.
