How to Fix Apex Legends Stuttering on PC?

There are multiple ways to fix stuttering issues on any game, not only Apex legends. So, if you are facing stuttering issues on other games as well, you can use the fixes given below.

The procedures below are fairly simple, so there is no reason to be nervous, hold my virtual hand as I guide you through the steps.

Here are the methods to fix stuttering issues on Apex Legends:

1. Check the Minimum System Requirements

Every pc game has some minimum system requirements that must be fulfilled to run a game. If your pc does not fulfill the minimum system requirements, Apex Legends will not run properly on your pc.

For example, A game requires you to have a gtx 1060, i3 7100 and  4 Gb of ram to run. You cannot expect it to run on a system with a gtx 1050ti and i5 6100 as these are older components.

Check the system requirements given below and see whether your system fulfills the minimum system requirements or not.

2. Close Background Programs

Having too many programs running in the background will put more stress on your system, which will result in stuttering while playing Apex Legends. This is more prevalent if you are using an older system.

You can close all the other apps running on-screen or in front of you before launching the game or starting a match.

The steps below are fairly simple, so keep your cool and go through the steps, you got this!

Here are the steps to close programs to fix stuttering on Apex Legends:

  • Press the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys together on your keyboard.
  • Click on Task Manager.
  • Right-click on the unnecessary programs and click on End task.Windows-explorer-end-task
  • Close the Task Manager.
  • Launch Apex Legends and check whether the game still stutters or not.

3. Update your GPU Drivers

You should always have the latest drivers for your GPU(graphics processing unit) or graphics card installed on your system. Not having the latest drivers can cause many annoying and unnecessary problems to arise.

If you do not know how to update your  GPU drivers, do not lose hope, as the simple steps on how to do that are given below. The steps are very straightforward, so keep calm and dive into the steps given below.

Here are the steps to update GPU drivers to fix stuttering on Apex Legends:

  • Right-click on the Start button.
  • Click on Device Manager.Device-manager
  • Navigate to the down arrow beside Display adapters and click on it. The GPU or GPUs present on your system will be displayed to you.
  • Right-click on your GPU and click on Update driver. Display-adapters
  • Select the Search automatically for drivers
  • Wait for the process to finish.
  • Check whether the stuttering is still happening or not in Apex Legends.

4. Change Graphics Settings

Sometimes, tweaking a few graphics settings is all it takes to get rid of stuttering issues. You can first change settings like V–sync, anistopheric filtering and anti-aliasing.

Turn all the features mentioned above off or keep them in the low preset. Keep everything in the low preset and check whether the game still stutters or not.

If the game is still suffering from stutters, then reduce your resolution. If you were at 1920 x 1080(1080p), reduce the resolution to 1600 x 900, also known as 900p.

If the game still stutters, you can try reducing the resolution to 720p(1280 x 720) or reinstalling the game if your system fulfills the minimum system requirements.

Remember to turn off the v-sync first, as this option limits your framerate to sixty fps or any other number you selected. It is optimal to get as much fps you can in competitive shooters like  Apex Legends, so please make sure V-sync is disabled.

5. Turn off Fullscreen Options

There is a Fullscreen Optimizations feature that can be enabled on Windows 10. Although it is supposed to improve the performance of games when in fullscreen mode, it sometimes causes lag and stutters in some games.

In this method, you will disable this feature by accessing the Compatibility options of  Apex Legends. If this sounds complex to you, I can assure you it is very simple.

So keep calm and go through the straightforward steps given below.

Here are the steps to turn off Fullscreen options to fix stuttering on Apex Legends:

  • Enter your Apex Legends folder.
  • Right-click on the Apex Legends.exe and click on Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility and turn on the Disable fullscreen optimizations
  • Restart your computer and check whether Apex Legends still stutters or not.

6. Repair the Game Files

If you downloaded Apex Legends from Steam, you can use a feature that lets Steam to repair the game files for Apex Legends.

If there were any corrupted files that were causing the stuttering issue, this method will fix it.

Here are the steps to fix the stutter issue in Apex Legends by repairing files:

  • Open Steam.
  • Enter your Library.
  • Right-click on Apex Legends and click on Properties.apex-legends-properties

    after trying so many things I finally found the solution to fix my stuttering problems. After I deactivated IPv6 I had no more problems.

    1. Close Apex.

    2. Go to control panel -> Network Settings -> Adapter Configuration. I’m german so I’m not sure if the translation is right. This is the path in german:
    Systemsteuerung\Netzwerk und Internet\Netzwerkverbindungen

    3. Rightclick on the Adapter of your Internet Connection (mine is called “Ethernet”) and deactivate “Internet Protocol, Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)”.
