Thrilled to buy a brand-new PlayStation 5 console but not sure what the unboxing experience will be? Or you might be simply wondering how many controllers are included in the packaging before you hit the Buy Now button on Sony’s website.
Well, I managed to get my hands on a PS5 this holiday, and I’ll share my unboxing experience in this write-up to help you make a sound purchase decision.

How Many Controllers Does a PS5 Come with?
Only one Original White DualSense controller comes with a PS5. It also comes with a USB-C cable which you can use to charge the PS5 controller. If you want to connect an additional controller to your PS5 for couch co-op/multiplayer, you will have to purchase it separately.
Furthermore, all the other colors(Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, Grey Camouflage) & the DualSense Edge controllers are also sold separately. The same goes for controller accessories such as the charging dock.
Basically, you will only get a single white DualSense and a controller charging cable in the box when you purchase a PS5 console. Any other additional controllers or controller accessories are all sold separately.
To be honest, the majority of gamers usually purchase consoles as a single user. It’s hard to find a household where PS5 has multiple users at once. As a result, most gamers don’t need a second controller with every PS5 purchase.
Plus, it helps Sony to keep the overall cost down, which is the biggest selling point for consoles. Additionally, it lets them make a profit on after-sales products & accessories.

What Else Comes with a PS5 in the Box?
Aside from the DualSense controller and its charging cable, you will get a PS5 stand, an HDMI cable, an AC power cord and a few quick start & safety guides. Unfortunately, you won’t get the PULSE 3D wireless headset, or the media remote Sony showed in their PlayStation showcase.
