Note: Resetting the app will wipe out all the data saved in the app.
After Repairing/Resetting the app try re-launching the app. Hopefully, it will run as intended.
Fix 4. Use SFC and DISM to Repair System Files
Sometimes the problem is caused by missing or corrupted files, and it is one of the most prevalent causes of app malfunctioning. Luckily Windows 11 has a feature known as System File Checker (SFC) to check missing or corrupted files and repair or fix them automatically.
Follow these steps to use SFC:
- Press Windows key and search cmd.
- Right-click on Command Prompt and hit Run as administrator.
- In the command prompt window, type sfc /scannow and hit enter to run the command. After the scan, if the file checker finds any corrupted file, it will automatically fix it.
- If that did not work for you, then run this command Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth in the command prompt.
- After the command completes, restart your computer to start the app newly.
After restarting the computer try relaunching the app. This time it should start working just fine.
Fix 5. Reinstall The Clock & Alarms App Using PowerShell
Sometimes deleting the app totally and re-installing it freshly gets the work done. So you can try removing the app and then again install it using PowerShell. Follow the steps below:
- In the search box type PowerShell.
- Right-click on Windows PowerShell and hit Run as administrator.
- In the PowerShell type the command get-appxpackage Microsoft.WindowsAlarms | remove-appxpackage and hit enter to uninstall the app.
- To install the app again now type in Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsAlarms | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml
- It will install Clock & Alarms app.
- Now restart your computer for convenience and run the app.
Now you should be able to use the app as good as new.
Note: If you cannot install the app through PowerShell, then try using the Microsoft Store to install it.
Fix 6. Updating Windows 11
Sometimes the bugs are seen in older versions of the OS and new updates come with new bug fixes and patches. So outdated Windows may cause the issue to rise. Hence, keeping your OS up to date is necessary to keep in mind.
With a bootable Windows 11 USB drive, you can repair upgrade your OS. Do not be scared as it will only reinstall and repair update your Windows to the newest version keeping all the data intact.
Now launch the app, and hopefully, it will resolve the ongoing app getting stuck on the start screen issue with your Clock & Alarms app.
