1. Scan For Virus or Malware

There may be a virus or malware attack on your computer. To remove malware or virus causing the issue, you can scan and remove them with your Windows Defender.

2. Use SFC Function utility

Here are the steps to use the SFC scan command utility:

  1. Press the Windows key and search for Command Prompt.
  2. Run the command prompt as Administrator. cmd-run-as-administration
  3. Type sfc /scannow in the command prompt and hit enter. sfc-scannow

3. Reinstall The Specified Program

Sometimes this problem can be solved by removing the background container in the Task Scheduler.

  1. Press the Windows key and search Run.
  2. Open Run and type taskschd.msc taskschd.msc 
  3.  Hit the OK button, bringing up the Task Scheduler window.
  4. Click on Task Scheduler Library.
  5. Right-click on the program causing the issue and click on Delete to terminate it.terminate

If this does not work, then try out the following method.

5. Restore Windows To A Previous Time

There are times when there is a missing file, and other times, the problem occurs because of new windows updates. If you faced the problem recently, say, just happened today, then the cause may be a Windows update. So the suggestion will be to restore your Windows to a previous time.

Here are the steps to restore Window to a previous time:

  1. Hit the Windows key and enter Run in the search box
  2. Open Run and type rstrui in the Run window.rstrui
  3. Click on the OK button, which will bring up a System Restore window.
  4. Select Choose a different restore point if there is one and click on Next. 

Tip: Choose the date when you did not face any issues.

  1. Choose a restore point from the list to restore settings from that date and hit the Next button.
  2. Click on the Finish button to finish the restoring of your Windows.

By following this method properly, you should be good to go as it undoes the new changes to your computer, including new softwares. So if some new updates cause the problem, they should be fixed right away.

Note: By restoring Windows to that date, the softwares installed later will be uninstalled. So you will need to reinstall them to use them.
