Written By Rawnak Islam Rumi

With the ever-growing landscape of Discord, you can find a server for pretty much any interest you have. All you have to do is look for one.

But it can get a bit confusing if you don’t know where to begin your search, especially if you don’t have an invite link.how-to-join-random-discord-servers

So if you’re new to Discord or having difficulty joining random/specific servers, let me guide you to your destination.

How to Find & Join Random Public Discord Servers

Whether you’re using the desktop app or the web version on your PC, you can search for public servers by clicking on the compass icon(Explore Discoverable Servers option) from the left side pane. It will open the homepage of Discord’s server browser.

Here, you’ll be able to see a variety of popular public servers from different interests, such as Midjourney, Open AI, Genshin Impact, etc. You can also find server categories on the left side. For example, to browse servers from specific categories like songs or bands, click on Music.

If you can’t find your preferred category, use the search bar from the homepage to search for that category-specific servers.

Suppose you want to browse baking-related servers, simply click on the Explore communities search box and type baking. Now hit Enter and you’ll see all the baking-related servers in the search results.discord-join-random-public-server

After you’ve found the server where you want to join, click on it. Close the pop-up window and select Join <server name> from the top bar. You might need to verify yourself as a human from the pop-up prompt, so it’s bad news if you’re a robot.join-discord-server

In case you’ve joined the wrong server or have lost interest in it, you can leave the server by right-clicking on the server icon from the left side pane and selecting Leave Server.leave-discord-server

How to Join Private Discord Servers

If you want to join a specific private server, you have to find its invitation link first. You can’t join a private channel without an invite link.

After you’ve acquired the invite link, click on the plus icon from the left side pane to go to Add a Server. Now select Join a Server from the pop-up window and paste the invite link in the box. Then click on Join Server. That’s it.join-private-server

If you want to join random discord servers without an invite link, open the discord app on your desktop on mobile and go to Add a Server > Join a Server. Then type https://discord.gg/<random word> (like- https://discord.gg/hero) and click on Join Server.join-random-private-server

Voila! You’ll get added to a random Discord server. It’ll be like playing Russian Roulette, you’ll never know where you’ll end up.

How to Stop Being Added to Random Discord Servers

Speaking from personal experience, it’s really annoying when people randomly add you on random Discord servers without any reason. And the worst part is, even after you’ve left the said random server, they might add you again!

To avoid such annoying scenarios, you can either remove those people from your friends list or simply ask them to stop adding you to the server. If you want to be more polite, you can just stay in the group but keep it muted.

In case a bot is adding you to the server, you should navigate to User Settings > Authorized Apps and find the bot which has permission to add you to any servers. Once you find it, select and deauthorize the bot from your account.
