Be sure to read through the end of this article to know how I solve the screen mirroring Netflix no video problem.

Let’s dive into the deep.

Why is Netflix No Video When Screen Mirroring?

If your TV does not support the HDCP code or has a damaged HDMI port and cable, you will possibly encounter a black screen or no video issue while screen mirroring Netflix. Besides, connecting your phone and the device to a different network is another reason for this annoying problem.

Screen mirroring is a way to view anything on a sizable screen, connecting your Android or iPhone with the smart TV. However, many users worldwide face no video problem while screen mirroring Netflix using their phones and TV.

Before fixing screen mirroring issues, get to know about their causes.

Here are the reasons for no video issue on Netflix when screen mirroring:

  • Outdated Operating System: If you try to use screen mirroring on an older operating system, you will encounter this problem while mirroring Netflix.
  • Disabling Multicast: If you try to share the screen with two devices that cannot multicast, or if one of your devices doesn’t support multicasting, there’s a good chance that you will not be able to mirror Netflix to your TV.
  • Incompatible Device: You won’t get the screen share feature if your Android version is older than 2.3. The iOS version 6.0 and Android Tablet version 3.0 can screen mirror.
  • Update Related Issue: Several users face this issue after updating Netflix because their devices are incompatible with the latest update. You should be careful while updating Netflix.
  • Different Netflix Profiles: Using different Netflix profiles is another reason for facing Netflix displaying a black screen when using the screen mirroring option.

You can connect your device to a smart TV, but when you go for screen mirroring, you must use the same profile on your mobile device and TV. Else, you won’t be able to do it.

Therefore, connect your devices to the same Wi-Fi and log in to the same Netflix profile on your TV and phone to screen mirror. But when Netflix is not working on Wi-Fi, fix that problem and try again.

  • Damaged HDMI Cable & Port: While connecting your device and TV using an HDMI cable and adapter, you must ensure that the cable, port, and adapter are okay. If the cable or port in the video cable section is damaged, you will see the Netflix no video mirroring problem.

Now that we know the reasons behind the black screen with the sound issue of Netflix. Let’s move on to the next section to resolve the issue.

How to Fix Netflix Black Screen When Screen Mirroring?

To fix the black screen problem during Netflix screen mirroring, update the OS, use HDCP TV, connect both devices to the same internet connection, and delete Netflix’s cache. But before anything else, restart your phone and TV to resolve Netflix’s black screen with sound issues.

Every problem on this great earth can be solved with appropriate knowledge, so don’t lose heart and keep reading; surely, you will find the one you are looking for.

Here are the methods to fix the black screen issue when screen mirroring from Netflix:

1. Update Operating System

An up-to-date operating system on the latest devices is like a blessing for the users. If you use an operating system older than 2.3 for Android and 6.0 for iOS, you can’t mirror the screen because the earlier version does not support this feature.

Check the following steps to update your device’s operating system:

  • Click on the Settings icon on your phone.
  • Scroll down until you find the System option and tap on it.
  • Navigate to the Software update option, and tap Check For Updates.smart-tv-system-update

If you are not using the updated version, your mobile will prompt you to upgrade the system. Update your operating system, and it will take some time.

2. Use a TV that Supports HDCP Code

To protect licensed content from piracy, Netflix developers have added a new code to their application called HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) code.

It’s simple: you won’t mirror your Netflix screen if your TV doesn’t support this code. You should check if your TV supports the HDCP code before screen mirroring.

You can search the internet, check the packaging box, or contact the manufacturer to know whether your TV has HDCP.

3. Connect Your Device and TV With the Same Network

You will never be able to screen a mirror on Netflix by connecting your phone and TV to two different internet networks.

Fix this problem by ensuring the two chosen devices are connected to the same network for the screen-sharing feature to work successfully.

4. Download the Previous Netflix Version

Sometimes, your operating system doesn’t sync with the application’s latest version. For this reason, you can experience this problem, and rolling back to the older version can solve this problem.

Follow the process of installing an older version of Netflix:

  • Uninstall Netflix from your device.
  • Open your browser.
  • Download any version before Netflix version 8.26.
  • Install Netflix on your phone and log in to your account using the ID and password.
  • Connect your iPhone or Android with the smart TV.netflix-appsmart-tv

Check if the problem is solved or not. Don’t stress out if the issue still appears. Update Netflix again from your device using Google Play without uninstalling the previous version. Open the latest app, and you will see that screen mirroring no video; only the audio problem is gone.

5. Delete Netflix App Cache Files & Clear Data

Not deleting the Netflix app cache files and data can create a black screen mirroring problem. Therefore, you should regularly delete cache and data files to avoid this kind of dispute.

Here’s how to delete the cache and data files of Netflix:

  • Tap on the Settings.
  • Move to the Apps.
  • Click on the Apps option again to see all the installed applications.
  • Scroll down to find Netflix.phone-app-list-netflix
  • Navigate to the Storage.netflix-storage-usage-on-phone
  • Locate Clear Data & Clear Cache.
  • Click on those options to clear data and cache files.clear-netflix-cache-data

Restart your mobile device and connect it to the TV. Now, check if the problem is solved or not.

6. Check HDMI Port & Cable

When you don’t have Wi-Fi in your home, you will need an HDMI cable and adapter to connect your device and TV. Android or any other phone has no HDMI port but can support connection through an adapter.

If the port or cable is damaged, you will see no video problem. If it works properly, then the cable is ok. If not, you should contact the manufacturer and replace it.check-hdmi-ports

Like the black screen issue, you can encounter a green screen on Netflix. Solving that problem can give you an upper hand.

7. Turn Off Color Correction Settings on the Mobile

Enabling color correction helps to change the display mode according to the pixels of images. You should know that Netflix doesn’t support such a feature. Turning it off can also help resolve the error of a black screen when sharing the screen.

Follow the steps below to turn off color correction on mobile:

  • Go to the Settings option, find the Smart Assistance option, and tap on it.
  • Tap on the Accessibility option.
  • Below the Visual option, you will see the Color Correction option.
  • Tap on this option to see if it is enabled or not. You should disable this option.

After the adjustment, your Netflix screen mirroring will work again like before you will see that Netflix screen sharing works again like before.

8. Test Chromecast Connection

A no-video issue will emerge when you share a screen on Netflix with Chromecast, and the connection is hampered. At that moment, a missing cast picture will show up, and to refresh the link, you need to do the following.

Check the following procedures to reestablish your Chromecast connection:

  • Log out of the Netflix account and log back in.
  • Turn on or off the Chromecast.
  • Disconnect Chromecast for some time and connect it again.
  • Reboot your device.

Follow any single one from the above, and your connection issue will be gone. After that, you can mirror the Netflix screen again. But when Netflix does not work on Chromecast, solve that issue ASAP and try my fixes.

Often, some silly mistakes can take valuable time from your life and cause havoc, like screen mirroring black screen with sound on Netflix. If you already connect your phone to another TV, you can face this problem, so disconnect the second TV and try.

Most importantly, Netflix sometimes enhances its security because if you buy its Basic plan or use any Netflix student discount and try to see shows on a big screen with your phone and succeed, nobody will buy their premium pack, which comes at a higher price.
