To check if your employer is monitoring your computer, right-click on the Taskbar, select Task Manager, and go to the Processes tab. Check if you see any unknown apps running in the background. You can also check the webcam and data usage of the computer.

Also, monitoring tools are quite resource-hungry, meaning they consume a lot of CPU, RAM, and disk usage. So, unless they run in stealth mode, it should be easy to spot them.

2. Look for Unknown Apps Installed on Your Computer

See, your employee might be tracking your computer with an unidentified third-party program. Most likely, you are left in the dark. So first thing first, check the list of the installed applications on your computer.

  • Repeat the steps for C:\Program Files (x86) folder.

These steps will suffice to find out any third-party tools or monitoring software’s existence. I’ll discuss what to do with them if you find one on your PC in the next section.

5. Check your Job Contract

If your employer is being honest about the whole tracking thing, they will mention the presence of monitoring software on your job contract clauses. They’ll do it to protect themselves legally.

The job contract should mention the installation of employee surveillance software on employees’ computers connected to the company’s server to legally have the right to monitor.

The employer should make it clear that they’re collecting every email, website you visit, when you use the internet, and other information the employer wants through the employee-tracking software.

6. Check the Firewall Settings
