From Android Settings App
- Go to the Android Settings app.

- Press the Turn on button from the bottom left corner.
- Tap on the Back up now button to start the files backing up process.
Swipe down and go to the Backup details section. There you’ll find several options for Apps, Photos & videos, SMS, Call history, etc. You can head over to these options and change preferences as you need. By default, Google One will select & backup essential data automatically.
From Google Drive
- Launch the Google Drive app.
- Tap on three horizontal bars beside the search box.
- Select the Backups option.
- Tap on Backup settings.
After that, you will land on the Android Settings app same Google backup settings page. Now, tap on the Back up now button to start the backup process.
From Google One
- Launch Google One app.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Tap on Set up.
Tapping on this will lead you to the same Google backup settings page within the Android Settings app.
Restore Files from Google One
If you want to restore files from Google One, you can do that too. You can select which type of files you want to restore in case you need those files urgently. While setting up the phone for the first time, Google will ask you to sync all the data associated with the account.
Apparently, you might want to restore all the data if you lost it from the device. Now, let me show the steps to restore files from Google One backup with proper steps.
- Launch Google One app.
- Log in with your associated Google account.
- Tap on the Storage option after login in.
- Touch on the Device backup right under the Previous device backup option.
- Tap on the Restore button for every item you want to restore, such as Pictures, Files, or Call history.
Now, all those files will start downloading to the device.
However, if you want to restore files on a different device, you can do that. First, you have to log in to the exact Google account where all the backups are from the device.
The main benefit of using Google One is sharing the space with family members and others. So, go to the Home tab from the left pane. Click on the Share button from the Share with your family section. Now, type in their emails, select them, and click the Send button.
Moreover, you can go to the Google family manager site to manage your family members. From the site, you can add & invite members to share the Google One and could use storage space with them. Now, let me show the entire procedure with the proper steps.
- Go to Google One website.
- Sign in with your login credentials.
- Click on the Home tab.
- Select the Share button from the Share with your family section. After that, Google will redirect you to the Google family manager site.
- Click on the GET STARTED button.
- Select the CREATE FAMILY GROUP button.
- Type in the member’s email in the To field.
- Select them from the suggestion list. You can select a maximum of five members to share the Cloud storage.
- Click on the Send button after selecting all members.
After that, all the invited members will receive an invitation mail. They need to accept that to sue the shared Google One cloud storage. There is no strict rule to select all five members at once. You can add others later after selecting one or two.
Note: All the added members can’t access your stored files from the shared space. They need your permission to access any of your files. You can also remove any members if required.
How to Unsubscribe or Cancel Google One Membership Plans
You can unsubscribe from the current plan if you don’t need Google One’s cloud storage anymore. To cancel Google One’s extra storage, click the gear icon (Settings) beside the profile picture. Select Cancel membership > Cancel. Click the Cancel membership button from the prompt.

These are the steps to unsubscribe or cancel Google One membership plan:
- Go to your Google One account.
- Click on the Settings icon beside your profile picture from the top right corner.
- Select the Cancel membership option.
- Click on the Cancel button.
- Select the Cancel membership button from the confirmation prompt. If you don’t want to cancel, click the I change my mind option.
Now, Google Play’s payments & subscriptions page will open in a new tab. You can see your Google One’s next payment date, and there will be a Manage button.
- Click on the Manage button, and a window will pop up.
- Select the Cancel subscription button from the prompt.
Another prompt will pop up, asking you about the reason for canceling the subscription plan. You’ll see several options to give your answer. So, select one reason and click the Continue button. Now, hit the Cancel subscription button for the last time from the final confirmation prompt.
