Outlook Recall Email Message that You Sent [Complete Guide]

Written By FarhanMax

The Outlook recall feature is one of the obligatory options anyone can ask for. It is common for everyone to send emails or messages to the wrong person. You also did this at least once in your lifetime.

There are some situations where you forget to attach files to your emails and send them accidentally. You may feel quite disturbed after doing this unwanted action. Well, you can recall those emails or messages after sending them impulsively.

However, this feature is only limited if both you and the receiver have Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange accounts. In case the recipient doesn’t have any of those accounts, then the recall feature won’t work.

So in this article, I’ll show you how to recall the emails you have sent that you didn’t intend to. Let the process begin!outlook-recall-email-message-that-you-sent

Alternates of Outlook Recall Feature

You can recall the messages as long as the receiver opens the message. But if they open it, you will no longer recall the message. In that case, you can perform some alternatives to compensate for your mistake.

Here are the steps that you can take if the Outlook Recall feature is unavailable:

Send an Apology Email

Double-checking before sending an email is always advised. However, humans are prone to mistakes, and it is not scandalous sending emails to the wrong recipient. You can send an apology email to the receiver stating the issue and accepting your mistake.

An honest apology will make the recipient happy and help them understand the situation. It builds the trust between you and the receiver, which may come in handy in the future.

  • Open Outlook.
  • Click on File from the top left corner.
  • Select the Manage Rules & Alerts option.manage-rules-&-alerts
