Out of several weapons, potions, items, blocks, mobs, and so on, Minecraft chose to update one of their wicked spells.
Yes, you heard that right. Curse of Vanishing is EXACTLY! The wicked treasure enchantments I am talking about.
If you are vicious and also like witchcrafts and wizardries then you should try this spell in Minecraft.
Besides the Vanishing spell, Minecraft also added one more contradictory treasure enchantments to reduce the paranoia which is called the Curse of Binding.
So, Relax and Launch the Minecraft game and follow this epic guide; as I am about to show you:
So, let’s start the treasure enchantment recipe.
The vanishing curse is one of the treasure enchantments that is used to curse any item in the game. If a player dies using this cursed spell on any of the valuable items, that specific item will vanish instead of dropping on the ground.
The spell in Minecraft can be used on any item. However, the enchantment can be used on weapons, shields, and elytra as well.
It is a bad enchantment.
In the very beginning, I told you that the vanishing spell is a treasure enchantment spell.
You can either collect the enchantments using the buried treasures, loot chests, fishing or even trading with villagers.
You might have thought that the vanishing spell is something related to disappearing yourself.
No need to feel ashamed of, I myself thought the same when the enchantment first took place in Minecraft.
However, it is a vanishing spell but only used on items and armors.
Normally, when you die in Minecraft world accidentally or intentionally, the held items in your inventory are dropped into the ground.
If you are in Multiplayer mode then, other players will definitely take advantage of your demise and collect your precious items.
Let’s cut to the chase:
To stop other players from taking your valuable items, the curse is cast. If on any item the curse of the vanishing spell is applied, that item will disappear for good and cannot be collected by your enemies.
Curse used on any items, Armor, Fishing Rods, axe etc. will be vanished completely whenever the player holding the item dies. This enchantment also works for items in the inventory as well. And once the item on which the spell is cast vanishes, it vanishes for good. Even you cannot find the lost item.
The main reason why Minecraft added such enchantment is that you can challenge yourself for not dying.
Add the Cursed spell using an enchanting table, anvil, or game command.
Also, you have to die in order to make the vanishing enchantment to work properly.
Let me provide you with a perfect example of your ease.
If you use the vanishing enchantment on armor, the armor will completely disappear when you die.
Frankly speaking, this spell works only when specific ingredients are provided to it (more on that later).
You might have seen in movies that while enchanting spells, witches use a spellbook.
Well, You are not a witch in Minecraft, but you can have the spellbook.
And one thing to keep in mind is that:
The maximum level for using the vanishing spell in Minecraft is Level 1. So, you can only use the spell in any one item. You can’t use it on multiple items.
So, you can say this as the drawback of the enchantment.
Here’s another thing you need to know about the spell:
The item that is cursed need not be held by the player. Even if the gamerule keepinventory is set to true, the item will vanish instead of dropping on the ground as soon as the player is dead.
The key difference between the Curse of Binding and vanishing is that Curse of Binding is a rare spell used on Armor for preventing the player to remove it. However, the armor can only be removed if it gets damaged or if the player dies. On the contrary, the Cursed spell is the enchantment used on any item to get vanished after the player dies.
The purpose of both the treasure enchantments is limited and useful in many ways. However, I am not a big fan of these banes but…
These spells are a unique gift in Minecraft. So, why not use them?
The curse of Binding helps the player to stick with the armor enchanted with. This is helpful if you are trolling players.
Here’s a sneak attack tip:
Use the Curse of Binding Spell in a pumpkin and convince other players to wear it. Seems interesting isn’t it? Looks like the player is going to be dead with an annoying vision if you make them wear the cursed pumpkin.
So, it’s better to think twice before wearing any objects in multiplayer mode.
More tricks to come, if you stick around.
Besides, both the enchantment spells can be obtained by trading, fishing, looting from chests, and even digging up the buried treasure.
Here are some secret uses for using the Vanishing Enchantment:
1. Use the Vanishing curse on expensive items of other players and kill them for punishing them so that their items like rupees, arrows get vanished permanently and they have to again buy the stuff.
2. If you have a super-powerful sword but also at the same time you know you are risking your life on an adventure, then use it on a sword for securing the item from other players.
3. The coolest secret so far is, the Vanishing Book itself doesn’t vanish when you die. It remains there.
Also, you may want to know some secrets about the binding enchantment. So, here are some secret uses of using the Curse of Binding:
1. Use it to distinguish the team colors (only if you ally with others) as the armors cannot be removed. Also, they cannot cheat by changing teams (if you want to play mini-games on your Minecraft server).
2. Use it on frost walkers to stop players from diving underwater.
3. Use the enchantment on a Slow Boots for mechanical trolling (just for fun).

Finding the enchantment book does depend on your luck. However, the Easiest way to get the vanishing book is trading with a Village Librarian. You just need to set up some bookcases and a lectern in order to trade the enchantment books with the village librarian.
However, in Minecraft Bedrock Edition, you cannot get the enchantment easily. Either you have to use a third-party software or, convert Xbox one edition world to Bedrock Edition that has the curse.
Here are some ways to find the Vanishing Enchantment:
If you are in Minecraft JAVA edition (PC/MAC), then using the Minecraft Enchantment Commands will help you get the book of curse easily.
Here is the command for vanishing enchantment:
/enchant @p (player name) vanishing_curse 11
NB: Here 11 denotes the number of books wanted.
After the enchantment commands, the best way to find the book is via. trading. If you have some bookcases and a lectern then, go near a village and find a librarian willing to trade the items for a vanishing curse spellbook.
So, this step is easy and also affordable because you just need only a lectern and some bookcases.
There is less chance of finding a Minecraft Vanishing Book while Fishing. It’s about 2%. However, looting in Ruins can give you a higher chance of finding the enchantment book.
As I said earlier, the treasure enchantments will be found naturally. It’s just a matter of time and luck.
Loot for Temples (Desert Temples, Underwater Ruins) and Dungeons for the enchantment books.
After you get the Vanishing enchantment book in Minecraft, you can now use the curse on items intentionally for pranks or for death. Just kidding.
You can use the Minecraft cursed spell on any of the items including fishing rods, Armors, Stone pickaxe, Diamond Shovel, and so on.
As a matter of fact, the items to enchant with the curse seems to be endless.
But the important question that remains is:
How to use the Enchantment for Minecraft Curses?
For using the Curse in Minecraft, you will need 3 things:
- An Anvil
- A Vanishing Curse Enchantment Book
- The item that is to be cursed
So, here are the steps to use the Minecraft Vanishing enchantment:
1. Get a Vanishing book and place it in the inventory.
2. Place an Anvil nearby and inside the anvil, place the item that you want to curse, and the vanishing enchantment book.
3. Place the cursed item in your inventory noticing that the item is now cursed.
The effect of the spell can be nullified in different ways. One is by placing the cursed item into a shulker box and the other is setting the keepinventory gamerule to true. Also, there are some other methods like combining the cursed item with another item from the crafting interface or using the grindstone.
You may think that the spell cannot be undone.
But Feel Lucky because:
There are some 100% working ways to get rid of the wicked spell.
You can also call this process White Magic. Whatever!
Here are some useful ways to get rid of the enchantment from any item:
The curse can be undone with this simple crafting trick.
All you need is the cursed item and that similar item but not cursed.
Open up the Crafting Table and place the cursed item and the identical another un-cursed item. You will see that the Curse Vanishes itself repairing the damage all by itself.
A Cool way isn’t it?
Merging the two items will not only remove the spell but also repair the damage of the item like Armor, Diamond Sword, and so on.
Enabling the Keep Inventory disables the curse for good, making the wicked enchantment totally useless.
Frankly speaking, I don’t know about the Bedrock Edition but in PS4, this step works completely fine.
You should give a try in JAVA or Bedrock Edition and do let me know whether this step worked for you guys or not.
In the Keep Inventory, you will see an option called gamerule. Set it to True and the curse of vanish in Minecraft won’t be of any good.
If you don’t have keep Inventory, then don’t worry at all. Use the other methods to easily remove the MC Cursed enchantment.
Grindstones are used on tools or weapons to remove enchantments but not curses. However, if you use a grindstone on any tool it appears that all enchantments applied to that tool vanish alongside the curse in Minecraft.
On the other hand, some Minecrafters also found this step un-effective.
But, don’t worry. You can use a grindstone on a fishing rod to remove only the vanishing curse but not other enchantments as well. You now need to know how to do so.
The Best way to remove the enchantment on fishing rods is to use a grindstone.
Many Minecraft players have experienced it on Fishing rods. And for the majority don’t know how to remove the curse from the item.
So, here is a useful way to remove it:
Use the grindstone and place the cursed fishing rod at the bottom slot and the un-cursed fishing rod at the upper slot. If the curse is on the bottom fishing rod, it will vanish and you will get rid of vanishing enchantment on fishing rods.
The curse on the second item (lower slot item) disappears while repairing in a grindstone.
This step is really effective and so I would recommend you to try this step if you are facing vanishing curse in Minecraft on Fishing Rods especially.
There are some major criteria you need to know before using the Vanishing Spell on any item.
After taking all the below points under consideration only then you should apply the vanishing enchantment.
Here are the things you should know about:
1. The enchantment itself doesn’t vanish when you die holding the item. It stays in the ground.
2. For the vanishing book to work properly, your XP level should be 4.
3. The enchantment can be used for mechanical trolling.
4. The best way to get the enchantment book is through trading and the best way to get rid of the curse is by combining the cursed item with the un-enchanted item.
Question: What is a Treasure enchantment in Minecraft?
Answer: Treasure enchantments are spells that are most likely to be found naturally in the game.
Question: What does the vanishing enchantment do to an armor?
Answer: Once the vanishing enchantment is applied to the armor, the armor will completely disappear when you die.
Question: Can the vanishing cursed spell be removed?
Answer: Yes, the curse can be removed by combining the cursed item with another item that is un-cursed. The curse can also be uplifted by using grindstone.
Curse of Vanishing is a treasure enchantment just like the curse of binding. Both of these enchantments are wicked and cannot be used for the right purposes.
In fact, the vanishing curse is used for not letting people have the expensive item you got. Even after your demise in the game, players won’t be able to gather the cursed item. So, it’s gone forever.
Do mention in the comment section what you think about the curse? Is it worth in Minecraft?
