How to Screen Share on Discord

Before getting to how to fix Screen sharing issues, let’s look at how to use Screen share on discord in different OSs.

  2. Launch Discord and go to a voice server.
  3. Join the server and Hit the Screen share button.
  4. Choose the quality you want to share.

How to fix Discord Screen share not working

Before trying on the fixes, make sure that your device is connected to the internet, the account settings are proper, all the participants are using the same version or the latest version of Discord, and the game is not running Fullscreen mode. A simple fix you can try is restarting your device. This works a lot of time, so no harm in trying.

Here are the steps to fix screen sharing not working in Discord:

1. Remove Discord’s Cache Folder

A few people have tried and succeeded in solving the Screen sharing issue by just Deleting the Cache folder.

  1. Right-click on the Windows Start menu and select Run from the options.
  2. Write %appdata% in the text box and hit enter.
  3. Delete the Discord subfolder.
  4. Launch discord and check if the screen sharing is working.

2. Run Discord and the program as Administrator

Sometimes the programs need administrator privileges for specific features, and screen sharing could be one of them.

  1. Find the Discord shortcut and the program you want to screen share on.
  2. Right-click on the Shortcuts.
  3. Select Run as administrator from the drop-down options.

3. Add Game to Discord

4. Install the updated version of Discord

  2. Find the Discord Software and click uninstall.

Here is how to turn off Hardware acceleration:

  1. Launch Discord and go to settings by clicking the gear icon on the screen’s bottom-left corner near your user name.
  2. Select the Appearance tab from the left panel under App settings.
  3. Switch off the Hardware Acceleration toggle if it is enabled.
  4. Go back to a server, join a channel and check if screen sharing works.

6. Enable Latest Technology

Your hardware may not be compatible with the technology Discord uses for Screen sharing but don’t worry. They also provide you with an option not to use their latest tech to support the older and not-so high-end PCs.

  1. Launch Discord and go to settings by clicking the gear icon on the screen’s bottom-left corner near your user name.

7. Update your Graphics drivers

You can search for your manufacturer’s updated Graphic drivers by visiting their website and downloading the most recent drivers. Get the one that is compatible with your Windows system and install it.
